It seems eco-friendly is the way to be these days, and if you are looking for some new gadgets to lug out to the cottage this summer, this solar powered boat may go on your wish list. Though solar powered vehicles haven’t exactly caught on with the public as many might like, perhaps we can take baby steps with this solar powered boat. This solar powered speedboat is touted to slice through your cottage water’s in exactly the same manner your motor boat would. Its theme is in carbon fiber with lush orange leathers to make it a truly unique luxury product. Measuring 10 meters, approximately 30 feet, it is constructed with 100% carbon fiber with its inlaid leather trim, and it features photovoltaic cells on almost every horizontal surface, as well as an LCD touch screen to satisfy the sailing techie geek. The solar panels encompass 14 square meters of the boat’s surface, and it also features a small 80 kw penguin friendly motor that runs without oil. It’s still at the prototype stage, but its manufacturers, engineers at Delft Technical University, are hoping to have it on the market, and soon. VHS to Digital Video Converter

Technology has been changing to digital at the speed of light, and so when new technology hits the market, old technology is left behind. How many times have you found yourself wondering ‘what on earth will I do with THIS now?’ Anyone know where their Walkman is? And so, with this in mind, the VHS to Digital Video Converter will eliminate at least one of those problems. You will be able to watch whatever you have on VHS still, but you will still have to figure out what to do with that VCR. The VHS to Digital Video converter does just what it says. Turn your VHS tapes into a digital video file that you can save on your computer. This way your wedding or your baby’s sonogram can still be restored for your viewing pleasure, regardless of the fact that your baby is probably in College now and would rather that get destroyed anyway. Before this, we had to haul our VHS tapes to the conversion stores, and now you can do this right at home with videos stored in real time in MPEG-4 format which will then allow you to burn them to DVD, iPod, or any other portable media player. RCA outputs come with this, enabling you to connect directly to a TV to watch your videos as they convert, as well you will receive editing software to work with your videos. You will need Windows XP or Vista for this tool, and Mac users, well, can’t help you there yet but shouldn’t be too long before something Mac compatible hits the market now.

The $299 Laptop – Vision Quest’s V-Book

Vision Quest V Book

I think I’ve actually seen bigger remotes than this Gadget, but this is where the price factors in. It’s the Vision Quest V-book and offers an 8 inch screen and what they are calling, basic functionality. Vision Quest offers three iterations in screen size, ranging from 7-10, with the 8 and 10 inch models equipped with a slot for SD memory cards. It features a 400 MHz processor from Samsung, 64 MB RAM, and 1GB Flash RAM as well as both wired and wireless networking capabilities. What you CAN do on this? Email, some word processing, and maybe a little bit of surfing, but downloading movies and music will prove difficult with the memory storage. You can’t beat the price though, so if you’re looking for something for the kids to do homework on, or perhaps want a little something for the cottage without lugging around the “good” machine, this would be ideal. Heck, it’s even cheaper than a Blackberry which offers you only slightly more features.
