Today, Nokia unveiled the new Nokia N9 smartphone to break some ground in the competitive smart phone industry.

The Nokia N9, based on the MeeGo platform, is planned to be launched later this year. Exact release date for the N9 in 2011 and price are unknown at this time.

The touch screen N9 has an 8-megapixel camera and 3.9-inch (9.9cm) high resolution AMOLED display.

As if sports weren’t exciting enough, now it seems that technology is making them even more exciting. ESPN broadcasting is about to bring you the world’s first 3D network. ESPN 3D is promising to show no less than 80 live 3D events in its inaugural year, to include FIFA World Cup matches, football, basketball and expanding to cover the X Games featuring skateboarding and rally car racing all live, and all right in the middle of your living room. Of course to have access to all this high tech wizardry you will need a 3D Ready Television, and some 3D glasses, and we’re not talking about the newest plastic ones that replace the cardboard red eye, blue eye numbers of yesteryear, we’re talking sophisticated battery operated shutter glasses and you will need a 3D ready set top box from your multichannel video provider. Discovery Communications is following right behind ESPN and has teamed up with the folks that bring you IMAX in the hopes of having their own 3D offering sometime next year. Unlike ESPN 3D, the Discovery Channel will have 3D programming available 24/7. I can’t imagine watching a game with the players running past me in my living room, it will be difficult to resist the urge to stick my foot out and “trip” a member of the opposing team, but I’m willing to grab a cold one, make some popcorn, and try to control myself! The whole world seems to be obsessed with how much things cost, and the same applies to the iPhone 4. For other countries where the smartphone is not available officially yet, folks who want first mover advantage to pick up an unlocked handset will have to fork out up to $1,000 for it, which is plain insanity. It gets worse after you realize that the iPhone 4 costs all of just $188 to build, sans marketing and promotion dollars of course.

A breakdown of the components point towards the Retina Display being the most expensive component within, as it is estimated to retail for $28.50. Google has unveiled its new phone, the Google Nexus One which will sell for $529.99 unlocked, or $179.99 with one of T-Mobile’s two-year service plans. The unlocked version will work with an AT&T SIM, but only at 2G speeds, as it lacks support for the requisite 2100 MHz band to access AT&T’s 3G network.

Google will sell both unlocked and contracted versions of the Google Nexus One through a new online portal located at www.google.com/phones beginning today! You can also order custom engraving on your new Google Nexus as well!

Reports from Google state that the Google Nexus One will later be available through Verizon Wireless in the United States and through Vodafone in Europe.

Best Buy is helping all of us who bought HD-DVD Players from them before febuary 23rd,2008. Everyone who bought one will get a $50 gift card and get to keep your HD-DVD player to use your current movies etc. They will give one of the $50 gift cards to those of us who bought the HD-DVD attachment for the x-box 360 also!
