Blockbuster Goes Tech With Its New Netbook

archos 10 netbook
Blockbuster Inc. will further expand its horizons when it comes to the range of consumer electronics on offer in its stores, as the company has recently unveiled news that they will be selling a netbook as well across a thousand Blockbuster stores throughout the US. These netbooks are targeted to provide consumers with a way to access entertainment regardless of where they are (thought that was already made possible with the iPod many, many moons ago), where the netbook in question would be the Archos 10 developed by none other than the namesake itself, Archos.

The Archos 10 will take the best from Archos’ capabilities when it comes to manufacturing quality portable media players, throwing in additional computing power with an emphasis on mobility, connectivity and multi-media capabilities in a single device. All Archos 10 netbooks sold from Blockbuster will come with an embedded link to www.blockbuster.com. Blockbuster has priced the Archos 10 netbook at a mere $299, which is considerably cheaper than other netbooks in the market although we will have to take a look atthe specifications to see whether the price is justified or not. We do know that the Archos 10 will tip the scales at no more than 2.8 pounds, where it will be powered by an Intel Atom processor, featuring a 10″ ultra-bright LED display, a small keyboard, Wi-Fi connectivity, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, an integrated webcam, all the while running on Windows XP Home with applications such as Lotus Symphony, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, parental controls, virus protection and multi-media applications all pre-installed for instant out-of-the-box use.

Dell Adamo

At long last – the Dell Adamo will finally be made available to the masses. Perhaps you can safely say that this is the best looking Dell notebook to date, even though Dell has moved forward pretty much in terms of design over the years, nothing holds a candle to the Adamo once you lay your eyes on it. The Adamo is also the first product under the new Adamo by Dell brand, and it offers premium craftsmanship and design inspires new aesthetic across Dell family of products.

In a marketing propaganda, Adamo by Dell was specially created to disrupt people’s perceptions of what personal computing is today. Let’s take a look at what this svelte new notebook offers. Touted by Dell to be the world’s thinnest notebook, the Adamo will definitely have MacBook Air fans up in arms as their favorite notebook has just been usurped, of all things, not by one of their own, but a Windows-powered machine instead. Bitter rivalry aside, the Adamo (meaning “to fall in love” in Latin) will be the flagship model in a line of products that was developed to disrupt the personal computing space by merging new design aesthetics, personalization choices and sought-after technologies. The chassis itself is milled from a single piece of aluminum (sounds familiar here…), boasting precision detailing and a… Read more »

Lenovo Locks Up Your Laptop!

Unfortunately we live in a day and age where online security has become a household term, and something we need to worry about quite a bit. It seems to be next to impossible to protect our online identities, and with password keepers being so frequently used, we put ourselves at risk every day. For those of us that are on our laptops 12 hours a day plus, it can be very convenient to use those cookie savers that keep your password stored so that those sites you visit each and every day are just a click away.

These same cookie savers are very handy for not having to remember passwords either, but if your machine ever gets stolen, you could be looking at becoming a victim of today’s hottest crime – identify theft. The folks at Lenovo realize this is a common concern, and have as such provided a Think Pad with its own built in security system.

The $299 Laptop – Vision Quest’s V-Book

Vision Quest V Book

I think I’ve actually seen bigger remotes than this Gadget, but this is where the price factors in. It’s the Vision Quest V-book and offers an 8 inch screen and what they are calling, basic functionality. Vision Quest offers three iterations in screen size, ranging from 7-10, with the 8 and 10 inch models equipped with a slot for SD memory cards. It features a 400 MHz processor from Samsung, 64 MB RAM, and 1GB Flash RAM as well as both wired and wireless networking capabilities. What you CAN do on this? Email, some word processing, and maybe a little bit of surfing, but downloading movies and music will prove difficult with the memory storage. You can’t beat the price though, so if you’re looking for something for the kids to do homework on, or perhaps want a little something for the cottage without lugging around the “good” machine, this would be ideal. Heck, it’s even cheaper than a Blackberry which offers you only slightly more features.
