The Blackberry Storm Gives the iPhone A Run for its Money

Ah yes, yet another competitor for the revolutionary iPhone. Smart phone users globally have long envied the iPhone as a phone that rises above most other for its one unique feature that until this year, could not be found on another phone. The ever elusive touch screen pad. Well, Blackberry users that still refused to switch, touch screen or no, can rejoice with the new phone that Blackberry is saying is ‘taking the world by storm’. Cute, huh? It IS The Storm and is the first clickable touch screen smartphone in the world and will be available through Verizon and Vodafone in the Fall for American users, and Bell and Telus for the Canucks. What exactly IS a clickable touchscreen? Well, you will be able to experience all of the advantages of a touchscreen, without losing those cute little clicky noises you get when you are using the Blackberry QWERTY board.

They’ve really thought of everything, huh? RIM figured that users who were accustomed to the clickable keyboard would actually miss those sounds. Hey, don’t laugh unless you’re a Blackberry user. Those sweet little clicks are a subconscious reassurance that your phone is working. How the Storm’s touch screen will work is that you will be able to depress the screen slightly as you apply pressure with your fingertip. It will actually feel like you are pressing a button and thus, the click noise results. Here you will have positive confirmation of your selection and what is being called a ‘highly intuitive typing experience’. Another advantage to this phone is that it is being marketed to both business and average users, so you may even see some affordability here. And the added features are something to click home about as well. It’s a 3G handset with global connectivity, quad band EDGE/GPRS/GSM connectivity, a full HTML browser, email support, 3.2 megapixel camera, integrated GPS, and 1 gig of internal memory with a micro card slot for anything additional you want. All on a 3.25” screen. Pretty sweet! With newer phones coming out like this almost every month it seems, the elite iPhone is soon going to be yep, just another phone.
