The Hydro Pak — An Environmentally Friendly Generator

Ask anyone in the state of Louisiana right now how important it is to have a generator on standby, whether you end up using it or not. With Hurricane Gustav recently knocking the power out of two million Louisiana residents, they will tell you, a generator is a storm must have. With so many models on the market, it can be hard to decide which one to pick when you are putting together your emergency kits, but this latest one, called the Hydro Pak, may be the most appealing to many. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but it is powered by water so it will literally keep going, and going. The Hydro Pak combines fuel cell technology with a water activated cartridge energy storage system, providing clean power whenever and wherever you need it.

The shelf life is infinite, and it will generate enough power to recharge an average notebook or cell phone. Added bonuses to this model are that it runs indoors and is much quieter than your average generator, and these features are only secondary to its primary feature – no harmful emissions. Quiet and reusable, this generator not only gets the job done, but is environmentally friendly to boot. It will store more energy than a generator with traditional batteries and offers 25 W of continuous output peaking at 50 W. It includes one AC port for 110 V, and 2 USB ports for cell phone or computer recharge. Energy storage per energy cartridge is 270 Wh per refill, so picking up a few refills while you are at it may not be a bad idea. While not as tasty as a cake mix, just adding water to the Hydro Pak will give you the power you need, when you need it.
