The Motherload of PDA’S
If you’ve been wondering when a kick-butt PDA is going to hit the market, wonder now more as one is on its way. This PDA is manufactured by Industrial Computing and is an expansion of their Guardian line of Windows CE 5.0 powered PDAs. This gadget is called the Guardian Model 135 and is being described as military grade. It is not only dust proof, but drop-proof as well and is up to the job in harsh environments. It will comply with MIL-STD-810 F and IP67 standards, which makes it capable of withstanding as much as five feet drops onto concrete, or any exposure to water, including being immersed. Further, it will outlast most humans in humid weather, and can function up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
It comes with a 624 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM, and a 128 MB Flash drive, features a 3.5” display, 2 USB ports, a microphone jack, numeric keypad and direction keys, SD memory card slot, PCMCIA Type II slot, 1900 mAH Lithium ion battery, as well as triggers for scanning. It is currently not quite yet ready for the market, but its older brother, the Guardian 137 is, so the 135 should not be too far behind. If you need an industrial PDA simply because you are a natural clutz, or because industry strength is what you need, keep an eye out for this one. The design isn’t the prettiest, but for what it does, it makes up for it in spades.
