Hyanide Snow Bike at the 2006 Michelin Challenge Design

Some of the best ideas are the simplest. For instance, the snowboard, we can board on the ground and on the water, WHY NOT SNOW? Another example, Rollerblades, if a bike can balance on two parallel wheels, why cant skates. The belt, the camera phone, sticky notes, all of these inventions simple changes to existing ideals and inventions and boom brilliant invention is born.

The Hyanide is but one such creation, part bike/part snow mobile/with tank treads, and it’s an idea that just screams, “Why hasn’t anyone thought of or produced this product?” It just makes to much sense not to be in production for the consumer and commercial markets. Hyanide is one of many such vehicles at The Michelin Challenge Design. Their site even has a section on The History of California Vehicle Design and of course a gallery of all this years contestants and how to enter next year just in case you feel creative.

And just in case your wondering “What exactly is The Michelin Challenge Design? Lets get it straight from their site:
“Michelin North America, Inc. (“Michelin”) created the annual Michelin Challenge Design to celebrate, promote, publicize and give visibility to original creative thinking and innovation in vehicle design.

By embracing and supporting design, Michelin aims to establish a closer relationship with the design community, combining technical innovation with transportation design to create vehicles that consumers want to buy and will enjoy driving.”
